RESEARCH & INNOVATION

From Knowledge to Experimentation — and from Experimentation to Knowledge

ECOSYSTEM VLG World and VLG.world are two complementary environments connected through a continuous circulation between research, architecture, incubation, experimentation and learning.

Research, models, methods and architectures developed and structured within VLG.world can inform projects and experiments within ECOSYSTEM VLG World.

Conversely, needs, observations, challenges, innovations and experiences emerging from projects, communities and territories can generate new research questions and architectures.

This relationship operates in both directions:

Research → Architecture → Incubation → Experimentation → Field → Learning → Formalisation → Research

Two Types of Branches, Two Functions

This relationship involves two distinct branch architectures that must be clearly differentiated.

ECOSYSTEM BRANCHES

Ecosystem Branches belong to the architecture of ECOSYSTEM VLG World.

They provide structures through which projects, programmes and capabilities can be supported, connected, developed and experimented with.

They operate in real-world contexts and can cooperate with one another according to the needs, projects and capabilities involved.

RESEARCH BRANCHES

Research Branches belong to the scientific architecture of the Science of Capability Architectures (SCA).

They organise different fields of investigation and structure research questions, architectures, models, methods, protocols and publications.

They are not operational branches of ECOSYSTEM VLG World.

Two Architectures That Can Interact

The two systems are not separated by a rigid boundary.

A challenge encountered by an Ecosystem Branch may generate a question explored within a Research Branch.

Conversely, an architecture developed through research may be mobilised, adapted or experimented with through a project within ECOSYSTEM VLG World.

This creates a loop:

Ecosystem Branch → Project → Field → Question → Research Branch → Architecture → Experimentation → Learning → Evolution

VLG.world structures knowledge.
ECOSYSTEM VLG World connects, incubates and experiments with projects and capabilities.

The resulting experiences can in turn transform both research and the ecosystem itself.
